Pro Clubs midfielder guide — CDM, CM, CAM
The midfield is where matches are won. Build templates, off-ball runs, and the passing patterns that pull defences apart.
Positions covered
CDM
Defensive midfielder
Shield in front of the back four. Interceptions, recovery runs, simple passes.
CM
Central midfielder
Box-to-box engine. Connects defence to attack, joins the press, supports both phases.
CAM
Attacking midfielder
Final-third creator. Through balls, late runs, secondary striker when the ST drops.
Meta tips
- CDM: hold position when CMs go forward. Don't chase the ball into the opposition third — that's how counters happen.
- CM: time your runs from deep. The CAM holds, the CB pings the long ball, you arrive late and unmarked.
- CAM: never stand still. Constant lateral movement creates passing lanes for the CMs.
- First-touch passing wrecks defences. Tap pass on receive, don't take an extra touch unless you're under no pressure.
Build advice
- CDM: Defensive Awareness, Standing Tackle, Short Passing, Stamina. 183+ cm helps for headers on transitions.
- CM: Stamina, Long Passing, Vision, Ball Control. The all-rounder.
- CAM: Vision, Dribbling, Long Shots, Agility. 175-180 cm for tight turns in the box.
- PlayStyles: Tiki Taka, Press Proven, Incisive Pass, and Dead Ball are top-tier midfield picks.
